I actually did not see this anime in real time. As I only started watching the anime in the summer of 2011, I only watched the second season of “Working’!!” (broadcast from October to December 2011). At the time, as an anime novice, I was the first in the comedy genre that I looked forward to and couldn’t wait to see every week. It was enjoyable enough without having seen the first season, but I was curious about the first season and put it on my list of things I wanted to watch someday.

The staff at the family restaurant “Wagnaria”, where the protagonist Sōta Takanashi got a part-time job, were very individualistic. There is a wide range of people who are small, carry a katana and like small things. Not just employees, but even shop managers and managers. When Sōta Takanashi is getting used to his part-time job, the manager tells him and Mahiru Inami that they have each other’s faults! The manager tells him to fix his and Mahiru Inami’s shortcomings.

Mahiru Inami, who has an extreme phobia of men, and Sōta Takanashi, who likes small things and is even disgusted by women over the age of 12, are the worst match for each other.

Employees who mesh with one another’s personalities.

The “Wagnaria” looks like a typical family restaurant. However, the daily routine woven by the unique employees is now extraordinary and will appeal to everyone. Sōta Takanashi is often the lucky one, but he himself is unusual and is not a normal person. It is also comical and amusing to see several employees flexing their blurts and quips, and will appeal to all audiences.

The very resourcefulness with which the bloke character and the joke character change according to the situation means that there is no one pattern. This is the reason why I never get tired of watching this anime.

Not just comedy.

The anime is not a romantic comedy, but has a few romantic elements, with a ratio of about 8 comedy and 2 romance. Is it a kind of comelove? This romantic element is not only tokenistic, but progresses gradually, interrupted interestingly by the comedy. This is another reason why they never get bored. Also, thanks to the romantic element, a goal (end goal) is created. This allows viewers to watch it as a story without losing sight of the destination.
